It’s official- We have broken ground on our fourth HOPE house! The ceremony took place yesterday morning in Little Elm at our newest community of Frisco Hills. The morning graced us with a pleasant breeze, and the location of the home site offered a panoramic view of Little Elm. It was the perfect setting.
It was also great to see such a nice turnout. Several members of the community came out to support the project including trade partners, association members and representatives of the Town of Little Elm.
Our guest panel of speakers included Stephen Brooks, President of Grand Homes; Jack Nulty, Executive Director of Homes for Hope; and Katie Nienow of HOPE International.
Katie’s portion of the event became the highlight as she shared the inspiring success story of someone in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) who lifted himself and his family out of the cycle of poverty by starting a pharmacy with a microloan from the profits of a HOPE Home. This was just one of many stories she could share about how HOPE Homes are impacting poverty in places all over the world. Katie was in the DRC for 3 years, and has just returned from a trip to Zimbabwe.
Other noted guests included Kathey Comer, Executive Vice President of The HBA of Greater Dallas, and David Hillock, Mayor of Little Elm. The ceremony was a great success, and everyone who came out was very proud to be involved with the HOPE Home cause.
The home will be a 4 bed/3 bath house expected to be completed by the end of the year. This home can be purchased at any phase of construction for optimal customization options. About HOPE International
HOPE International is a Christian-faith-based nonprofit organization that alleviates the many dimensions of poverty through the provision of microenterprise development services – small loans, savings services, and biblically based business training – in 16 of the poorest, least-served countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
Homes for HOPE is an arm of HOPE International and works with home builders to facilitate and encourage the construction of these homes. The profit from the sale of the homes goes towards the provision of microloans to entrepreneurs in impoverished countries to start or expand their small businesses. This enables them to earn a steady income to support their families and eventually rise out of poverty.
