We broke ground on Grand Homes’ fifth Home for Hope! Neighbors, trade partners, Grand Homes employees and more gathered at Chadwick Farms in Fort Worth this week for the groundbreaking ceremony. We had a full tent for this inspiring and rewarding celebration.
During the presentation, Stephen Brooks, President and CEO of Grand Homes, Jack Nulty, Executive Director of Homes for Hope, Beau Brooks, Vice President of Grand Homes, Paul Evans of BMC West and Tim Wilson of Stair Solutions each gave touching, personal accounts of their experience with Homes for Hope.
Each Home for Hope is built with donated or discounted labor and materials in order to increase the profit made on the home. The home is put on the market as any other Grand Home would be. The profit from the sale is donated to Hope International, the parent company of Homes for Hope, who then turn the donation into microloans for entrepreneurs in impoverished countries so they may start or expand their small businesses. This enables them to earn a steady income to support their families and eventually rise out of poverty.
What is most impressive about this program is how it doesn’t just fund someone once and when that money is gone, it’s gone. It actually helps people build on top of that initial donation in order to make a better life for themselves and those around them.
